For sale, a large Victorian porcelain minimum thermometer by Dollond of London. This unusual example measures 12” across and 4” in height on the wall with a graduated edge, porcelain scale plate incorporating two porcelain hanging loops at the top edge. The main painted scale measures -30 to 120 Fahrenheit but has an additional Centigrade scale at the top left above the thermometer to show freezing point and below. A 19th century small table top telescope with an astronomical, sun eye piece. At focus the telescope measures 23″ (58 cms) long with a height of 11″ (28 cms). The main eye piece is removable and can be replaced by the astro eye piece; both are push fit. The telescope folds away neatly into its case. An excellent three draw, mahogany barreled, unsigned refracting telescope with early knurling/machining/roping c.1820. Measuring 1 1/4 inch (3 cm.) in diameter, 16 inches open and 6 inches closed it has it’s protective ocular slide but no end cap.
