Cased and Signed John Browning “New” Pocket Microscope.  This microscope is signed: “John Browning 63 Strand, London 826”.  Originally, I was not able to determine date of manufacturer from the serial number 826, but the address was valid from 1872-1900.   Further research on microscope-antiques.com showed a cased “New” Pocket microscope like mine but with serial number 635, which was dated to about 1887.  So that makes this item more likely 1888 or 1889.  The accessories include tweezers, an unmarked Read More...

Smith, Beck & Beck Universal Microscope.   This microscope is signed:” Smith Beck & Beck London Universal Microscope 5832”.  This serial number places date of manufacturer around 1865-1866. This item has no case or accessories other than what is mounted on the microscope.   The focusing function does not work possibly due to stripped teeth on rack.  The adjustment wheel just turns freely with no corresponding movement of body tube.  The substage plastic disc is in good condition with no cracks. Dancer Microscope.   Only accessories are stage mounted forceps and slide.   The base appears to be cast as the texture is rough.  The sliding part of the stage slides smoothly.  Single sided mirror is in very good condition.   The objective is marked “J.B.
