This pocket globe was made around 1774 after the first voyage of James Cook in the Endeavour. The terrestrial globe is made of twelve engraved coloured paper gores and two gores for the poles. 1920s Medical Drawings of Ophthalmic Pathologies

We have obtained a collection of original watercolor drawings, done to record a variety of ophthalmic pathologies. They range from a group done at Hamblins in the 1920s( the bulk of the collection)  to a couple of c1930 Curry  Paxton drawings. They depict various ophthalmic pathologies such as congenital cataracts, sarcomas, siderosis, etc. Some of the drawings  were executed for notable British ophthalmic surgeons, including Sir William Lister and W.S. SOLD – A single draw, taper barrel telescope by ‘Braham, Bristol’ (worked 1828 – 38). It measures 21.25″ (54 cms) when extended and 18.5″ (47 cms) closed with a main lens of 42mm which has a triple lens element. The telescope gives a fine, sharp image with a magnification of 25 x. A “Henri Van Heurck” microscope coming from the Orville Golub collection

An early model of this famous microscope called “Henri Van Heurck”, after its inventor, the famous Belgian diatomist. This microscope was described by the latter “for the study and photography of diatoms and for all delicate researches”. The microscope is signed “W. Watson & Sons 313 High Holborn” and bears the serial number 3750. The microscope can be dated to around 1895, much earlier than the majority of known Van Heurcks built by Watson.
