An extremely fine Crookes Spinthariscope in original case c.1903. Doubly signed “Spinthariscope, W. Crookes, 1903” and “Thos. Armstrong & Bro., Manchester, 657”, it retains all of it’s original golden lacquer, adjustable focal length by threaded eyepiece with lens, gold pointer with radium sample at tip (adjustable by knurled nut) sitting atop a zinc sulphide screen with blackened end cap. SOLD – Miniature sextant in case – Cary, London.

SOLD – Miniature lacquered brass sextant of just 3 inch radius, the silver arc reads from -5 to 150 and the vernier to 1 arc minute. All original lacquer is intact, the two mirrors are good. The is a revolving light aperture stop for sighting: three coloured filters and one open pin-hole sight. Signed, ‘Cary, London’. No chewed screw heads, dents or knocks.
