A very nice collection of 4 mushroom models, Italy, ca. 1930-1940’s. These models were made to teach people which moshrooms are poisonous and which are eatable. Hig quality and carefully detailed and very realistic, handpainted plaster, height ca. 10-12 cm. A contemporary full hull model, a Dutch East Indiaman cargo vessel, built plank on frame. Model is decked, equipped and fully rigged. At this scale the ship measured 45 meter along the deck by 14 meter in the beam and an approximate tonnage of 1100 burden. Maritime: Superb early-19th-Century Sail Maker’s Seam Rubber

“Museum quality” is a term used much too casually in the antiques business but what we have here certainly qualifies for that accolade.   The images show a  very fine early 19th-century carved ebony seam rubber , the top and sides of the handle with  expressive faces. The owner’s monogram (“R.W.”) is on the rubbing blade. Rubbers of this type were used for flattening seams on sails in preparation for sewing.
