Early 20th Century brass German Kriegsmarine Sextant – Haecke, Germany

Very fine and complete sextant of black painted brass in original case. The inside is simply but effectively furnished. The platinum scale, graduated from -5 to 135 degrees, set in a brass arc. Made by Haecke in Neukölln. In the handle is a crown with the letter M and number 1634, the same number as in the case. A cased brass sighting level by Andreas Boehme dated 1797. Made for establishing horizontal measures by hanging the instrument on a line, these were used in surveying and mining and were sometimes affixed to instruments such as the graphometer or theodolite to establish level planarity.  Contained within original case with makers signature and stamps, original plumb bob with historic thread, and fine patina, the instrument features the typical German punched numbering of the 18th century. A good wooden Nuremberg microscope of the rarer shape “a chapelle”. Late 18th-early 19th century   Dimension: 21,5cm (8 ½”) close; 28cm (11”) extended.   This microscope is made entirely in wood with the exception of the body tube, draw-tube and eyepiece which are cardboard covered with paper and capped with wooden rings. Screwed eye-cap and objective screwed cover are present. Bock Steger skin model

An early Bock-Steger Skin model. The model is in good condition. After collaborating with Carl Ernst Bock, Franz Josef Steger (1845-1938) also worked with the professor Wilhelm His (1831-1904). Before these collaborations, his earlier models are signed Franz Joseph Steger.  The piece is not signed by F.J. Steger; So I believe that the model is made under his collaboration with C. E. Bock.
