Description
The 1868 Gemrig catalog (see last image) illustrates these instruments and describes the larger one as an “instrument for grasping deep-seated tumors; the smaller one is described as an “instrument for grasping deep-seated arteries. They are both very well-made instruments. The handles are ebony ( not ebonized wood) and are free of cracks or hairlines. The instruments as shown in the first image are 10″( 25cm) and 9” (22.5cm) respectively. They are unsigned but Gemrig could be the maker.
