Description
A three draw leather covered telescope, signed, ‘Thomas Harris & Son, Opticians to the Royal Family, 141 Oxford Steet & 52 Gt Russell Street, London’. He worked from these two addresses in 1851 and had previous Royal Appointments to the Prince Regent and George 1V. The company worked throughout the 19th century.
The length of the telescope is 36″ fully open and 11.5″ closed. The height when fixed to the stand is 16.5″ and it has a main lens of 40mm diameter, giving a fine sharp image when viewing with a magnification of 25 x.
It comes in its fitted mahogany case (lacking key). In excellent condition.
