Description

A good, clean  late 19th century surveyor’s compass / clinometer in case by Hunt & Sons, Philadelphia.

The compass body has a diameter of 8 cms and has an outer degree scale from 0 – 360 with increments to 1 degree, with jewelled needle and locking bar. The compass has sighting arms and can be turned upright on the fixed stand and used as a clinometer. There is a 7 cms long threaded stand which scews onto the compass base, for tripod mounting. The square brass plate measures 9 cms x 9 cms and has a silvered scale from 0 – 9 cms. The plate can easily be removed from compass via a short turn and pull.

In padded lined case; 13 cms x 10 cms approx.
