Description
A small teresstrial globe by A.N. Lebegue et Cie Bruxelles. Alphonse Nicolas Lebegue (1814-1885) founded the Lebegue company in 1843 after he left Paris, which became one of the most famous printers of the city Brussels.
The globe arises from a decorated cast iron stand and is made of plaster and 12 paper gores. It is in good condition, exept from a crack along the coast of africa, however, everything is finely readable. It is adjustable by a screw, which hold it by a pin through the centre. The signature says ‘Globe Terrestre A.N. Lebegue & Cie Editeurs R. d.l. Madeleine No. 46 Bruxelles’. As Australia is called Nelle Hollande and California is depicted as a peninsula, this globe is from around the 1850’s.
Length: 19 cm.
Diameter globe: 10 cm.
