Description
Bearing serial number 185790 on both the 12 inch tall microscope and case, this monocular extends to 14 inches with draw tube focussing in addition to fine and coarse adjustment. Square stage with clips (never used), perfect double sided mirror, Abbe-type condensing substage with additional insert containing one of 3 light stops. 4 eyepieces marked 1, 3, 4 and 12X. Four objectives all signed and marked 3 , 6 , 7a and 1/12 oil immersion (black card case). 1400X mag. using 12X and 1/12 oil.
Cosmetically and mechanically near perfect with two tiny scratches on the body tube and one water stain on the stage. The Y shaped foot is flawless and finished in black enamel. Pleasing combination of black enamel, nickel steel and bright brass. Triple nosepiece.
Fir wood case has some scuffs but has the original lock and key. 13 x 7 1/2 x 7 1/2 inches with steel, ovoid drop handle.
The serial number places manufacture at the end of WWI.
