Description
Exceptional example of a high quality microscope in a fitted wooden case, complete with three eyepieces and and two objective lens. The microscope is made of brass and stands on an unusual circular base. The microscope tilts, has an extendable eyepiece tube, rack and pinion coarse focus and an additional micrometer fine focus knob. It has a square stage with two slide clips and a mirror below the stage to focus the light. It has a doble iris diaphagm regulator and a condenser under the stage.
It is signed on the base with the makers name and serial number ; “Ross. London. Eclipse. 5932”. The microscope comes with three good quality brass eyepieces, one of them with pointer. It also comes with two original objectives it its cans and an engraved original Ross nosepiece. I have add an empty Ross can but unfortunatelly I don’t have the objective. The microscope is in excellent working order and comes in its original fitted wooden case with a leather carrying handle, working lock and key.
The microscope has been sleeping for 150 yeras and retains all its original laqueur.
