Description
A rare French signature from the famous Soleil family, specialized in the manufacture of optical instruments.
The signature is “Soleil, rue de l’Odéon 21”. This is therefore Jean-Baptiste Soleil who was established at 21 rue de l’Odéon from 1851.
We can date this modium-size inclining compound microscope around 1850-1865. The microscope is in general good condition with two eyepieces and the classic triple achromatic lenses. The mirror seems changed and there is some traces of oxidation on the screw of the mirror.
Everything is well preserved in its original traveling box measuring 21×14,5x10cm.
