Description
What you see here are selections from a photo album of 23 gold mining photographs dating from the last quarter of the 19th century. The album’s owner is unidentified but the album was manufacturered by Ward’s, a San Francisco firm. My guess, based on topography and the history of gold mining in the American West , is that the mine shown was in the The Golden Horseshoe region of Colorado. Album is 7.25″ by 5.75′” or 18 X 14.5 cm. Photos are 4.75 ” X 3.5″or 12 X 9.5 cm. All dimensions are approximate. Some photos show light fading but most are very good.
