Description
A pair of French veterinary castration devices: a compression forceps and testicle forceps made E. Julié working in Castres, c1900. Very fine quality with nickel-plating largely intact and both distinctively marked by maker as shown in first image . In an article by Julié in the premier issue of the Journal de l’agriculture de la ferme et des maisons de campagnes. ( Volume 1, January 1900:19-22) he claims to have introduced his castration instruments in 1899. Julié was apparently a veterinarian as well as manufacturer of veterinary instruments.
