Description
A taper barrelled nickel silver marine telescope signed, Ross, London. No 29938′ (circa 1900) and, ‘Made for Falconer & Co, Hong Kong’. The Falconer company has has a presence in Hong Kong since 1885 and is still there today. He was an agent for Ross.
The body is finished with its original string covering which was probably considered more durable than leather in a tropical climate.
Fully extended it measures 33″ (84 cms) and 25″ (63cms) closed with a main lens of 48mm diameter which gives a magnification of 24 x. Complete with end cap and eye slider and comes with a later wooden display stand. Good condition throughout with some small wear marks.
