Description

Large, cased Ross-Zentmayer Microscope with accessories.    It is S/N 5397 which places it at C 1886.  It is signed “Ross, 5397 London.”  In addition, it is marked “Patent” on the back of the bar.  Both of which are seen in a few of the images in this listing.  Microscope stands about 15” (38.1 cm) tall with objective almost touching the stage.    Case dimensions are 16” (40.6 cm) tall, 9.5” (24.1 cm) wide and 7.5” (19 cm) deep.   Accessories include a Ross London Double objective changer numbered “1114”, live box and compressor, rotating substage polarizer, three eyepieces labeled ‘A’ and ‘B’ and ‘C’, A cased ½ objective.  Objective is marked “Ross, London, Patent ½ in No 20685” Case is marked “Ross, London ½ In”, 1In case and objective (1 in mounted on microscope), ¼ In objective also mounted on microscope.   There are also 2 objective cases marked 1/5 In and 2 In.   The case labeled “Ross, London 2 In” has a 2/3 in objective inside and is not labeled Ross, London like the other objectives.   The X direction of the stage does not move when you use the knurled knob but does move smoothly using hand.  The Y direction works just fine.  Case is in very good condition.  Double sided mirror is in very good condition except one side has a little discoloration/pitting on a small portion of the mirror.
