Description

SOLD – A large four draw Georgian telescope signed on the first draw, ‘Wellington, Crown Court, Soho, London’. Alexander Wellington worked from this address from 1784 – 1812. He had various Royal Appointments. The business was taken over by his wife Mary until 1827.

The telescope measures 63.5″ (162 cms) fully extended with a main lens of 2.5″ (60 mm) diameter.

In fitted mahogany case (crack to lid) with 2 extra eye-pieces giving power from 25x to 60x. The telescope is in very good condition throughout giving a a good, clear vision when viewing. The eye-piece has a glass sun filter.

A unusual rare telescope due to its size.
