Description

21 inches (52 cm.) fully extended by external rack and pinion, this pleasing Dutch? form of the Jones brass microscope has a few nuances/innovations not seen on the English models. The 7 inch body tube (excellent lacquer) terminates with a rotating head of 6 lenses (all intact) as seen on Dollond models, eared stage with rectangular slot for Lieberkuhned lens (missing) and additional slots for the stage magnifier (on arm) and forceps. Large 2 x 2 inch sprung Bonnani-type stage insert with one bone slider, 3 inch double sided, rotating mirror (concave and plano-some spidering) adjusts left to right and has a sliding bar for concentration of light along the optical axis. No Bleuler “in between” condensing lens between the stage and the mirror as seen on later models. Pleasing top knot to the 10 inch, round upright section terminating at a middle compass joint to the round stem on folding, tripod foot. This section has 50% lacquer loss from handling and folding but no damage. No maker’s name.

A pleasing item for display in the office or library, good optics for the era, it has limited accessories and NO case.
