Description

Edinburgh Royal Infirmary School Prize. A 4″ or 11cm silver ( not marked but guaranteed as such) thermometer case in the form of a Celtic Cross with Celtic knot decoration, and what we believe is an opal, awarded C1890 to “J. Paterson”as “First Prize Senior Division” in the “School of Nursing.” It was “Presented by C. Jenner” and awarded by “J. Smith, MD. C. Jenner, likely Charles Jenner, was the scion of the family that found Jenners Department Store in Edinburgh in 1838s; it was one of the oldest department stores in the world until it closed in 2020.
