Description
Cased Charles Baker Microscope with number 1 stand. The microscope is C. 1858-1860. It has several accessories other than what is mounted on the scope and include: 3 eyepieces, 2 objectives stored in the brass cases that are marked 1/2 In C. Baker, London and 1 In C. Baker, London, and a live box. There is also one empty objective case with the lid marked 1/8 In C. Baker, London. There may be other accessories, but one of the drawers will not open all the way and another drawer has the pull knob not attached so there is no easy way to open the drawer. The pull knob is in one of the other drawers, however. Coarse and fine focusing work smoothly as does the movement of the stage in the X and Y direction. The plane/concave mirrors are in very good condition. The case is in very good condition with the following exceptions: There is a little tape residue on the door above the lock, the top left drawer will not open all the way to see what, if anything is inside. In addition, one drawer pull knob is not attached to the drawer and finally the center panel of the door is missing wood trim pieces on the right side, top and bottom of the inside of the door so the panel can come out from inside the door relatively easily since it is held in by only one trim piece located on the left side(can be seen on one of the images). Microscope stands about 18” (45.7 cm) tall with no eyepiece and at minimum height. Case dimensions are: 20.25 “(51.4 cm) tall, about 11 “(27.9 cm) wide at the widest point on top of case and 9.75 “ (24.7 cm) deep.
