Description

Cased and Signed Henry Crouch Binocular Microscope C. 1880.  This microscope is signed “Henry Crouch London 1347”.  The accessories include: stage mounted forceps, two sets of eyepieces and two empty objective cases marked “Wales ¼ In” and “Wales 1 in”.  The objective mounted on the microscope is not marked.   Coarse and fine focusing work well and the double-sided mirror is in very good condition.   The binocular adjustment also works well.   There is a substage mounted variable aperture diaphragm.  As for the case, there is a non-structural crack along the entire length of the case lid.  Also, the entire floor or bottom of the case has come unglued and will be re-glued to reattach it.  There is a key and the lock functions but not well.  The microscope stands 15“(38 cm) tall.   The case dimensions are:  16” (40.6 cm) long, 8.5” (21.6 cm) wide and about 7“(17.8 cm) deep.
