Description
A c1860 japanned enema syringe in its original case. No maker indicated but the The Weiss 1863 catalog shows an identical instrument ( see images) and describes it as a “Double -Action Reservoir Syringe : By means of this syringe the fluid is injected in a continuous stream”(London, 1863: Plate LII). The bronze-color japanning is in remarkably good condition for its age as is the lacquer on the metal parts. The mechanism works but the end of the plunger, which is intact, has shrunk slightly over the years and moves a bit too easily. Length of case: 11” or 27cm.
