Description

An original sketch for an advertising of the Tungsram light bulbs, signed by the German illustrator Richard Langner, ca. 1900-1905.

“Soll dein Licht der Sonne gleichen – Wahle Tungsram wirst’s erreichen!” (“May your light be like the sun: choose Tungsram and you’ll achieve it!”)

Tempera on paper, measurements 37,5 x 29 cm.

 

Richard Langner (1873 Breslau district, 1931 Munich) was a German portrait, landscape painter, illustrator, and graphic artist.

He studied at the Breslau Academy with Hermann Kühn and Heinrich Otto Irmann. From 1900 Langner received further training at the Munich Academy with Johann Caspar Herterich, Karl Raupp, and Ludwig von Löfftz. He also wrote articles for the Munich magazine Jugend and was a member of the Reich Association of Fine Artists in Germany
