AN EARLY POCKET TELESCOPE
English, early to mid-18th century
Beautifully constructed of very dense turned lignum vitae wood, with brass lens cells and dust slide at the eye end, this Galilean telescope measures 16.5cm (6 ½ ”) overall with a 1 1/8” diameter objective.
It focuses, and separates, by wood threads in the center.
A handsome, well-proportioned design, in very fine condition throughout.
