Description

A splendid octagonal miniature sundial (46×35 mm) with a fixed gnomon in gilt brass, attributable to Salomon Chesnon II from Blois.

 

The silver plate is engraved with the hours from III to XII and I to VIII , divided into half-hours.

The miniature compass is in perfect genuine condition with its original needle still magnetised. At the back the signature is not original but later.

Anyway, a rare and early fix-lattitude sundial in perfect condition.
