Description
An interesting and early example of a large French achromatic microscope, unsigned, but probably attributable to the work of Molteno Ainé, Molteni or Bianchi. The instrument needs restoration: the rack of its mirror, whose attachment is broken, is broken and is no longer in working order.
Otherwise, the example is in rather good condition, preserving two eyepieces and two objectives, its stage and its large substage mirror. Everything is preserved in its mahogany box measuring 32x27x10 cm.
Inside the mirror, we discover a page of a daily newspaper of the time dated 1838.
Interesting and early model copying the large simplified achromatic of Vincent and Charles Chevalier, introduced few years earlier.
