Description
A rare, larger than normal example of Bradford Darby and Hulls coin scale. The scale was patented on 12 December 1753 No, 686. “Machine for weighing gold coin, rings and all utensils made of gold; also a sliding rule for taking the contents of solids and superficials.” The scale has an additional counterweight fo one pound troy also marked (possibly a serial Number) No.10. The scale is unknown and possibly a unique surviving example of this scale. However it is damaged, the scale clip is missing as is probably one inch of the scale. The fulchrum pins are also filed away.
