Description
This 19th century spherical wooden pill gilder in perfect condition, was used to finish the pills with a silver or gold coating. The pills were placed in the pill gilder together with gold or silver powder, put the lid on and then the pharmacist would shake and spin until there was a nice layer of gold on the pill In the 17th to the 19th century it was believed that a medicine worked better if it was coated with gold And of course, only wealthy customers could afford this.
