A Fleaglass is a website just for reputable established antique dealers who specialise in science or technology. The
Fleaglass Dealers page contains a list of the participating dealers.
Q How does the site work?
A The site is simple to use. You can browse through the categories of items that appear on the drop-down lists at the top, or you can search the whole site for items, using the search facility at the top of this page. Our 12 latest items for sale always appear on the home page, and you can also view the most recent listings, going back up to two weeks.
Clicking on an item in any list will bring up detailed information and photos, and a link to contact the seller directly. There is also a link to the seller's other listings – here you will find all of that dealer’s current stock in one place.
Q How do I find what I am looking for?
A Some items fall into more than one category, but we try to keep all similar items together. If you are not sure where to look, please use either the search bar to the left or the
advanced search page.
Q How do I buy an item?
A There is no cart or checkout. Click the Contact Seller link on the item description, and you can email the dealer directly to ask a question or to buy. All dealers accept Paypal, as well as other forms of payment, and all ship internationally.
Q What are the advantages of buying on Fleaglass, compared with an internet auction site?
A Firstly you are buying from knowledgeable dealers with a good reputation. They provide detailed photos and accurate descriptions. Items offered for sale are selected for their condition, originality and rarity. Dealers will draw attention to any significant restoration and all items are guaranteed genuine. Secondly, fair, fixed prices mean purchases can be confirmed immediately. You cannot be outbid at the last moment.
Q Are all items on Fleaglass antiques?
A We only sell genuine antiques and collectables within our specialist fields. We do provide dateline guidance for our dealers, this varies according to the category of item. For example, garden sundials would normally date from before 1900 (you will find that most offered for sale on Fleaglass are in fact 18th century). However, other categories have later datelines. Some historically significant items may be relatively modern. Important aeronautica, and items from the dawn of electronic computing, are inevitably 20th century. Some of the most interesting slide rules and mechanical calculators were made up until the early 1970's.
Q Can I sell my items on Fleaglass?
A If you are a dealer wanting to join Fleaglass, please use the
Fleaglass Membership page. If you are a private individual, or institution wishing to dispose of items, please use our
commissions page.
Q How did Fleaglass get its name?
A A fleaglass is an early type of simple microscope.
